About TenCate

A legacy of innovation

Surfaces shape how people play, move and experience outdoor spaces. TenCate combines more than 300 years of textile knowledge with expertise in materials, engineering, manufacturing and surface design. Today, that knowledge is applied across sport, recreation and outdoor living, from community spaces and everyday recreation to professional sport. Operating across more than 60 countries, TenCate brings together global knowledge and local experience to develop, manufacture, install and maintain surfaces and systems for different sports, environments and levels of use.

Since 1704

More than three centuries of textile knowledge have shaped TenCate. From its origins in weaving, that expertise has evolved through textiles, fibres, materials and manufacturing into the surfaces and systems of today. The technologies have changed. The understanding of how materials can be engineered for a specific purpose has remained fundamental.

Experience goes beyond the product itself. Knowledge from materials, yarn development, manufacturing, system design, installation, maintenance and real world use provides insight into how surfaces actually perform throughout their functional life. That knowledge can return to research and product development, informing the next material, construction or system.
It creates a continuous connection between what is designed, what is made and what happens in the field.

Understanding comes before improvement. At the Center for Turf Innovation, sports science, engineering and material knowledge are combined with laboratory testing, field measurements, data and user feedback.

Research continues beyond the laboratory. The TenCate FieldLab at PSV Academy and mobile CTI research on fields across Europe and other parts of the world provide insight into how surfaces behave under different sports, climates, levels of use and stages of their functional life. Those findings feed back into the development process.

Different spaces place different demands on a surface. From artificial turf and hybrid grass to running tracks, sports lighting and outdoor living, TenCate combines technologies and expertise to create solutions for different sports, spaces, climates and levels of use. That breadth also creates opportunities to look beyond individual products and consider how the complete environment is designed, built and used.

Access to play is access to possibility. From professional sport to schools, clubs and local communities, surfaces and systems can help make spaces available for more people to play, move, train and connect.

Availability matters. A facility that can accommodate intensive use throughout the year creates more opportunities from the space already available. Beyond sport, outdoor living solutions create spaces for play, recreation and spending time outdoors.

Tomorrow

The next generation of surfaces starts with the decisions made today. Performance and durability come first. But product development increasingly considers the complete lifecycle too: material choices, manufacturing, resource use, maintenance and what can happen when a product reaches the end of its functional life.

Developments such as Pure PT™, Pure EP and ONE DNA™ show how questioning established system design can lead to different approaches to performance, water use, material complexity and end of life. More than 300 years after its beginnings in textiles, TenCate continues to apply material knowledge to new questions.

Play on. Today and tomorrow.
