Each environment brings different demands for performance, availability and use. That understanding shapes how TenCate develops, manufactures, installs and maintains surfaces, and increasingly how materials are considered at the end of their functional life.

Artificial grass for sports 1
Where climate, intensive use or limited space puts natural grass under pressure, artificial turf can provide more playing capacity. It allows fields to be used for more hours, across seasons and changing weather conditions, while providing consistent playing characteristics.
Outdoor living 2
Outdoor spaces place different demands on turf. Appearance, comfort, drainage and durability all influence how a surface performs in daily use. TenCate develops artificial turf for gardens, landscaping, playgrounds, rooftop terraces and other recreational spaces.
Hybrid 2
Hybrid systems combine natural grass with synthetic fibres to reinforce the playing surface. Two main approaches are used: synthetic fibres can be stitched directly into the rootzone, or natural grass can grow through a pre manufactured synthetic structure and be installed as reinforced turf. Both approaches are designed to increase stability and help natural grass withstand intensive use.
Track
Athletic tracks need to balance grip, impact attenuation and resilience across repeated use. Different disciplines, competition levels, climates and facility requirements influence the construction of the surface. TenCate track systems are developed for environments ranging from schools and community facilities to professional competition.
Lighting
A field that cannot be used after dark has limited availability. Sports lighting extends playing hours and allows clubs and communities to use facilities throughout the day and across seasons. Lighting design takes into account the sport, facility, surroundings and required level of play.
A surface continues to perform only when it is maintained for the way it is used. Maintenance helps preserve playing characteristics, appearance and availability throughout the functional

life of a field. TenCate provides maintenance services and expertise for different surface types, usage levels and local conditions.
DSC_6072What happens to a surface at the end of its functional life is becoming an increasingly important part of system design. The materials used in a system play an important role in determining its end-of-life options, including the potential for mechanical recycling where suitable infrastructure is available.
