One pitch. Two sports. More players. More often. More fun.
Pure PT One is the first turf system to achieve certification under the FIH DualSport Turf programme, the joint standard developed by FIH and FIFA defining what a surface must deliver for both hockey and football. FIH certified. FIFA Basic compliant. One surface.
Why DualSport matters
For many schools, clubs and community facilities, space for sport is limited. A second certified pitch is rarely a realistic option. Maximising what a single installation can support, in terms of sport variety, access, and hours of play, is where provision actually gets expanded. That is the gap the DualSport Turf programme was built to address. Not elite-level competition, but grassroots and school sport, where more players getting more time on a quality surface is the measure of success. One certified surface supporting both hockey and football creates more opportunities to play, broadens access for a wider range of users, and helps facilities deliver more value from the same footprint.
FIH Facilities & Quality Programme Manager Alastair Cox described the significance directly: “The FIH is pleased that we now have an approved product capable of meeting the needs of both hockey and football. The Dual Sport Turf Standard was developed in collaboration with FIFA and its Quality Programme for Football Turf. Dual Sport turfs will create more opportunities for people to experience both sports in a cost-effective, sustainable way.
A surface built for consistent performance across both sports
Meeting the DualSport standard is not simply a matter of combining two sets of criteria. Hockey requires controlled ball roll and a consistent surface response across varying weather conditions. Football places different demands on traction and player movement. A surface that satisfies both governing bodies without compromising the performance requirements of either sport is what the standard measures.
Pure PT One is a fibre-based system with no need for performance infill or sand infill. The surface response comes entirely from the fibre construction, which means performance characteristics remain consistent over time, regardless of infill displacement or compaction. Extensive Lisport XL wear testing, simulating more than ten years of intensive use, confirms the durability of that consistency. The result is more playing hours, across both sports, with predictable surface behaviour throughout the lifespan of the pitch.
Maintenance requirements are also significantly reduced compared to infill systems. No infill to replenish, no sand to redistribute. Less time spent on upkeep means more time available for play.
A new category, at the right level
FIH's own description of Pure PT One's certification is precise: a new category of turf. That framing matters. Multi-use surfaces have existed for years. A surface that carries governing body approval for both hockey and football on a single installation is something different. For the clubs, schools and communities where the DualSport programme was designed to make a difference, that is the point. More sport. More players. More often.
